Salesforce Marketing Cloud: Instructions for Initial ESP Set Up

⏳Completing these instructions should take around 1 hour.

The major steps involve:

  • Creating a new user for Movable Ink
  • Configuring permissions for a new “Role” in Salesforce Marketing Cloud
  • Sharing login credentials for the Salesforce Marketing Cloud Enhanced FTP
  • Identifying Sender Profiles, Send Classifications, and Profile Lists

To create a UI user for Movable Ink:

  1. Log into Salesforce Marketing Cloud (SFMC) using an account with sufficient permissions to add new users
  2. In the Marketing Cloud Dashboard, mouse over the account username in the top right corner and select Setup from the drop-down menu
  3. In the left sidebar menu, select Users from the Users section
  4. Click Create and complete the New User form.

Important Note: Movable Ink’s best practice for assisting clients to overcome ESP outages and incidents that impact live sends is to use an email alias ESP login, which is managed within our secure password vault. If alias access cannot be provided, then we will ask you to provision access to individual users for the purposes of integration set-up and maintenance; however, if individual user access is given, then Movable Ink will require a well-defined client escalation path for emergency outages and incidents that require ESP actions.

If individual user access is given to Movable Ink, then provide an escalation path in the form linked below that Movable Ink can use in the event of ESP outages and incidents.

  1. Navigate to “Roles”, then click “Create”.
  2. Name the new Role “Movable Ink Da Vinci User”
  3. Configure the following permissions for the role:

Notes:

  • The preferred set of permissions is outlined in the “Permissions (Preferred Access)” column.  This level of permissions will allow your Movable Ink Implementation Team to better assist you during account set-up and to more thoroughly troubleshoot any unforeseen integration issues.
The “Permissions (Minimal Access)” shows the minimal set of permissions required for your Movable Ink Implementation Team to proceed with your integration set-up.
  • If the Minimal level of access is granted, then Movable Ink will be unable to troubleshoot certain urgent ESP-related outages and incidents.  In this case, Movable Ink will require a well-defined client escalation path (using the form linked below).

To create an API connection for Movable Ink Da Vinci:

Follow these set-up steps to establish an API connection in Salesforce Marketing Cloud for Movable Ink Da Vinci.

Provide Movable Ink with SFTP Access:

In addition to the SFMC user, Movable Ink Da Vinci requires access to the SMFC Root SFTP Server to extract contact event data (send logs, unsubscribe logs, etc).  Depending on your preferences, this SFTP may also be used for other data handoffs.

  • Typically, root access to the SFMC SFTP is granted by sharing the existing credentials.  Do not share these credentials through email.  Your Implementation Team may have already shared a secure Dropbox folder for the transmission of secrets; share the hostname, username, and password in this secure Dropbox folder.  If the Dropbox folder has not been shared, get in touch with your Implementation Team for next steps.

Provide the following information to your Implementation Team by using the form linked below:

  1. Identity which Sender Profile(s) must be available for use on Da Vinci campaigns.  Additionally, identify which Sender Profile should be configured as the Default.
  2. Identity which Send Classification(s) must be available for use on Da Vinci campaigns.  Additionally, identify which Send Classification should be configured as the Default.
  3. Identity which Publication list(s) must be available for use on Da Vinci campaigns.  Additionally, identify which Publication list should be configured as the Default.
  4. Provide an escalation path, which Movable Ink can use in the event of ESP outages and incidents.
